Masterclass Capacity- Due to policies set forth by South Dakota Ballet in response to COVID-19, dancers must remain socially distanced throughout class. Capacity is set by UDC.

Fangqi Li

American Ballet Theatre

Originally from Zhengzhou, China, Fangqi Li studied ballet at the Secondary School of the Beijing Dance Academy and with The National Ballet of China.  She won scholarships for six consecutive years (2010-2016) from her school and the government, and was regularly honored as a Merit Student.  She participated in summer intensive programs at American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Heritage and the Beijing IBCC.

Li’s awards include first prize in Group C at Beijing Dance Academy’s 5th Annual International Ballet Competition for Dance Schools (2014), third prize at the Youth America Grand Prix Asian Regional Semi-Finals (2015) and second prize at the Helsinki International Ballet Competition (2016).  In 2017, Li was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne.

Li joined ABT Studio Company in September 2017, became an apprentice with the main Company in January 2018 and joined the corps de ballet in June 2018. Her repertoire includes Moyna in Giselle, a featured role in Deuce Coupe, as well as roles in all the Company’s full-length ballet

Andrii Ishchuk

American Ballet Theatre

Andrii Ishchuk was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine.  At the age of four, he began studying ballet at Kharkiv Ballet School under the direction of Elena Solovyova and Mikhail Bezzubikov. Ishchuk performed titles roles in several children’s ballets, including Cinderella, Snowdrop and Pinocchio. In 2013, he received an Ellison Ballet Training Program Scholarship to study in the United States under the direction of Edward Ellison. While at Ellison Ballet he danced the Prince in The Nutcracker and the pas de deux in Giselle. In 2016, he graduated from Ellison Ballet with honors and attended the Ellison Ballet Summer Intensive in New York City.

Ishchuk’s awards include first place at the International Youth Ballet Competition “Crystal Shoe” (Ukraine) in 2009 and 2011, first place at the International Junior Ballet Competition “Little Stars” (Bulgaria) in 2009, first place at the Youth America Grand Prix Boston semi-finals in 2016 and first place pas de deux at the Youth America Grand Prix New York City finals in 2016.

Ishchuk joined ABT Studio Company in September 2016, became an apprentice with the main Company in November 2017 and joined the corps de ballet in January 2018. His repertoire includes Hilarion in Giselle, the Russian Dance in The Nutcracker and a featured role in Deuce Coupe.
